What we’re looking for

We are looking for a talented and experienced assistant manager to join our passionate North Action team and support the CPU Manager in the day-to-day running of Buns From Home’s Central Production Unit. This role will help us ensure smooth production operations, accurate administration, strong team support, and consistent quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The Assistant Manager acts as a key support between management and the production floor, stepping up when required.

This role suits someone who is organised, proactive, comfortable with admin and data, and happy to be hands-on in a fast-paced bakery production environment.

What you’ll be doing

Operations & Production Support

  • Support daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets
  • Monitor workflows, productivity, waste, and downtime, flagging issues early
  • Assist with production planning, labour allocation, and shift coordination
  • Step in to support or oversee production areas when the CPU Manager is busy or away

Team Support & Supervision

  • Support production teams with day-to-day tasks and problem-solving
  • Provide cover supervision when required
  • Help coordinate shift handovers and ensure clear communication
  • Support attendance tracking, performance follow-ups, and team organisation

Administration & Data

  • Maintain accurate production, shift, and operational records
  • Complete data entry, basic reporting, and KPI tracking
  • Manage internal follow-ups and communications across departments
  • Support audits, documentation, and compliance records

Quality, Health & Safety

  • Support compliance with food safety, health & safety, and hygiene standards
  • Assist with checks, corrective actions, and basic investigations
  • Help maintain SOPs and ensure teams follow agreed processes

Continuous Improvement

  • Support improvements to workflows, layout, and efficiency
  • Assist with implementation of standard procedures and best practices
  • Proactively suggest practical improvements to daily operations

Hands-On & Flexible Support

  • Assist with physical or operational tasks during busy periods
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-moving production environment

What we’d love you to bring:

  • Experience in a food production, bakery, or operations environment preferred
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead exposure extremely beneficial but not essential
  • Comfortable supporting both office-based and physical tasks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple admin and operational workstreams
  • Fully Flex across 7 Days with varying shift timings as needed.
  • Comfortable with 45 Hours / Week on average
